The ''frenzy'' stage (also called the 'gilded age') of a [[technological revolution|Surge of a technological revolution]] is characterized by a sense of exploration and exuberance as entrepreneurs, engineers and investors try to find the best opportunities created by the big bang 'irruption'. Using a trial and error approach numerous projects are funded to help the technology find its place in the economy. The process continues until it reaches an insustainable exuverence, also called 'bubble' or 'mania'. At that point the 'paper wealth' of the stock market loses any meaningful relation with the realistic possibilties of the technology to create wealth.
